We visited with two adults and two kids, and we all enjoyed it. We had a reservation for 2:00 pm, but since we were already in the area, we arrived earlier and they kindly let us in. It wasn’t too crowded, which made it easy to explore everything at our own pace.

The museum was a great way to learn about Irish history, ancestors, and the stories of Irish people around the world. One of our favorite parts was the interactive passport activity at the beginning, where you collect stamps in each section as you learn. It made the visit more exciting and encouraged us to discover every area.

We loved the different sections, from learning why Irish people emigrated. The interactive areas where you can touch, smell, and explore made it fun for everyone. We also enjoyed learning about the impact of Irish heritage around the world, including famous leaders and athletes with Irish roots.

The videos, stories, and information were very well presented and brought history to life. We also appreciated the lockers available with a €1 deposit that you get back, which was very convenient.

A fantastic Dublin experience for families and anyone interested in history, culture, and the Irish story around the world. Highly recommended!

No lines and the guides are all very nice and helpful. Audio guides and fun interactive rooms for kids help keep everyone engaged. It took about 2 hours if you actually sit and read each exhibit. The EPIC museum is a great way to learn about Irish immigration and the heritage. It is interactive and fun. There are lots of hands on exhibits for kids and adults alike to experience. The interactive nature of the museum is really engaging and fantastic for any age. I was most recently there a few days before Halloween when they had a dramatic Dracula presentation for the kids who could be heard giggling and shouting "this is so fun!" as they chased him down the hall. EPIC is unique in its ability to expertly tell the Irish story from many different angles - history over the centuries, personal stories sprinkled throughout the broader context, film and music to sports, politics, and pub culture. They use nearly every sense, with video, audio, touch screens, interactive sets, and a passport you can use to track your journey. Make time for a couple of hours here. You're going to love it!
BONUS: They have a genealogy centre which you can access separately at the end. AND the ticket is good for more than just the day you visit - where does that ever happen?!

As a friend said, a different way to present information. This very modern museum is set in an old factory warehouse on the river, supposedly the last one in the Docklands. The conversion is quite impressive. The museum is a history of Irish Emigration and how it has shaped the world. Lots of impressive use of film, fun stuff for kids. Fascinating and entertaining.

This was an excellent experience. The building was interesting and unique, the technology used in the exhibits made this very easy to follow and my kids aged 9, 13 & 15 all really enjoyed the experience absorbing more information than i expected.Really well located beside the Georges Dock Luas stop and with plenty of cafes nearby it was excellent for a family experience

We stopped here as our first stop on landing in Ireland. We went in around 2 PM ET - we planned on spending an hour but we ended up spending 2 hours. We were pressed for time or we would have been here longer. Wonderfully done museum which gives you goosebumps in many exhibits even if you are not Irish, They have a passport and stamping station for kids which my 6 year old loved. What ages is EPIC suitable for?

EPIC is designed for visitors of all ages. Families can explore the incredible impact of Irish emigrants through interactive galleries, digital displays, whispering books and learning dances, making it an engaging way for children and adults to discover Ireland’s influence around the world together.

Will younger children enjoy EPIC?

EPIC’s interactive approach gives younger visitors plenty to see, explore and interact with rather than experiencing traditional displays usually found in museums. There are no ‘do not touch’ signs at EPIC! Young visitors particularly enjoy our Isle of the Senses gallery where they can touch, smell, look and listen to the landscape of Ireland. Our interactive LED floor allows visitors to redirect planes and ships with their feet and children love to see if they can find the sea monster carrying St. Brendan the Navigator’s boat!

What can children do at EPIC?

Children can explore EPIC’s interactive galleries and discover the stories of Irish people who left the island and made their mark on the world. Our audio guide also has a Kids Tour allowing children to travel through EPIC with Annie Moore, one of Ireland’s most memorable emigrants. Explore myths, music, games, inventions, and family stories, with interactive moments in every gallery.

EPIC also runs family activities and events at different times of the year, so it’s worth checking What’s On when planning your visit.

How long should we allow for a family visit?

We recommend approximately 90 minutes to explore EPIC. Families may wish to spend shorter or longer than this depending on children’s ages, interests and how much time they spend interacting with the galleries. However, your EPIC ticket allows you a complimentary readmission within 10 days of your visit so you can always come back if you want to revisit certain parts of the museum.

Is EPIC interactive for children?

Yes. EPIC is an interactive museum experience, using digital technology and interactive displays to bring stories of Irish emigration, culture and influence to life. This makes the experience very different from a traditional museum visit.

Are family tickets available?

We offer several different combinations of family tickets, allowing for different numbers of adults and children. Check our Tickets page for current prices and offers when planning your visit.

Can we leave EPIC and come back later the same day?

Yes! Your EPIC ticket allows you complimentary readmission within 10 days of your visit.

Can I bring a buggy or stroller into EPIC?

Yes, our museum is fully accessible for buggies, strollers, and wheelchairs. There is a lift at the entrance and exit too.

Are there baby-changing facilities?

Yes there are three baby changing facilities in the museum with additional baby changing facilities in the CHQ building, EPIC’s home.

Is EPIC suitable for children with additional or sensory needs?

At EPIC, we are committed to creating a museum experience that is open, inclusive, and accessible to all visitors. Our initiatives include sensory-friendly evenings, a dedicated Quiet Room, wheelchair access across all levels, carer tickets, and multilingual guides. We are proud to have been awarded Silver Status in Fáilte Ireland’s Access for All programme and are actively working through recommendations to achieve Gold Status.

During our Sensory-Friendly Evenings, audio is muted, captions appear on all screens, and guests receive a colour-coded passport to guide them through each gallery. Our team is trained to provide support, from recognising JAM cards and Sunflower badges to offering Sensory Kits and pointing out our Quiet Room.

Is there anywhere suitable for kids to eat near the museum?

EPIC sits in the vaults the beautifully restored CHQ building, where buzzing cafés and relaxed restaurants are right on your doorstep. Whether you want a quick coffee or a family lunch, there’s plenty of space and options to suit all tastes.
