Grab your jacket, hat and scarf for this special Science Week workshop, where we’ll be exploring the
polar regions and all about snow alongside Irish Antarctic explorers Ernest Shackleton and Tom Crean.
Delivered remotely, this camp consists of a 1-hour Zoom session designed to get students engaging
with STEM and history in a fun, creative way. First, we’ll discover some fascinating real life facts
about the Antarctic and what it’s really like to live in the polar extremes, before taking part in a
series of tasks or ‘experiments’ to explore snow and see if we have what it takes to be part of
Shackleton’s crew – including practicing gratitude, embodying patience, and exemplifying courage
Everything has been designed so that students can use minimal materials such as pen and paper to
take part. All they really need is their imagination!
