You can choose between our Essential or Classic packages, each offering a defined scope of work, fixed pricing, and a set number of professional research hours. Book your research package now.

This is the ideal option if you want real results, not just guidance, and prefer our professional genealogists to carry out the work on your behalf.

Please note – each Research project takes approx 4 months to complete.

Fiona Fitzsimons sits at a desk using a desktop computer inside the Irish Family History Centre. The person types on a keyboard while viewing a genealogy research website on the monitor. The workspace includes a mouse and papers on the desk, with wooden shelving, green decorative elements, and signage for the Irish Family History Centre visible in the background. Warm lighting and a textured glass partition frame the scene.

Research Package Options

Essential Package – 6 Hours

Classic Package – 12 Hours

Step 1 – After You Book

Once you purchase a research package:

  • You complete a research questionnaire – This includes details about your family line, known ancestors, dates, places, and your research goals.
  • Send us any documents you already have – e.g. certificates, family trees, notes, DNA summaries, photos, or previous research attempts.
  • We review your information in advance – Your assigned Genealogist prepares your file, identifies likely sources, and flags any early challenges.

Step 2 – Initial Review & Clarification

Before research begins, your Genealogist will contact you to:

  • Confirm details or clarify uncertainties
  • Learn your research goals
  • Set realistic expectations based on what sources survive

This ensures your research hours are used efficiently.

Step 3 – Researching your Family History

Your dedicated genealogist will set out a research plan that will be completed within an agreed number of professional research hours.

Your genealogist will diligently complete online and archival research, to find the evidence to tell your family’s story clearly and accurately.

Step 4 – Presenting Your Family Story

On completion, your genealogist will:

  • prepare a detailed family history narrative with copies of all relevant records.
  • Full citations and a list of sources consulted so you can see for yourself.
  • Recommendations for next steps, if further research is possible.

We will arrange a follow on meeting with your genealogist where you get to:

  • review your project and ask questions about sources, history and interpretation.
  • Discuss other research options.
  • Explore possibilities like citizenship eligibility, ancestral home locations, or DNA analysis.

This session ensures you understand everything uncovered and know your next steps.

Optional Upgrades

  • Additional research hours may be required to trace complex family situations, additional lines, or an extended family over several generations.
  • A family tree chart (showing descent, one line, or an extended family over one or more generations).
  • A bespoke in-depth research project for complex or multi-line investigations.
  • Your choice of cloth or leather bindings to create a beautiful keepsake book of your family history.
  • DNA interpretation or citizenship support, if relevant.

Important To Know
