a cartoon Dracula staring through you, with a cloud-covered setting sun above menacing mountains in the background for the Halloween Family Tour

We have a very special host for our Halloween Family Tour.

This Halloween family tour includes a walkthrough of EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum. You will work as a group to locate clues hidden in our galleries to Dracula’s whereabouts. Along the way you’ll discover more about Bram Stoker’s life and the famous novel Dracula that shaped how the world imagines vampires today.

You’ll also stop off for a Storytelling session, where Bram will bring to life some tales of creatures from Irish history and folklore that may have inspired Bram’s creation, and work together to create your very own vampire myth, suitable for the Ireland of today.

The tour is led by a guide who plays the role of Bram Stoker and involves an activity hunt to find objects hidden in the museum, storytelling session and two interactive activities, one a spell casting and one an imagination game to come up with a new vampire story. Feel free to fress up in your scariest Dracula or Halloween themed outfit to complete the theme!

Something New This Midterm

The Halloween Family Tour will look a little different this year, because Dracula has found new hiding places amongst our new galleries.

Last October, the museum underwent a transformation in its first three galleries, reopening to the public in March 2026. Now is your chance to discover this upgrade to our visitor experience – we have a feeling Dracula will definitely be using it as a hiding spot. It is the most significant transformation since the museum opened, showcasing our commitment to being a world‑class cultural attraction and a global leader in storytelling. The new galleries expand the exhibition footprint by 2,000 square feet. Visitors will now experience more immersive multi-sensory storytelling, improved accessibility, and enhanced multilingual engagement.

New ‘Isle of the Senses’ Sensory experience

The upgrade includes a new ‘Isle of the Senses’ sensory experience, evoking the Ireland emigrants carried with them when they left the island. Visitors are immersed in the sights, sounds, and scents of the landscapes left behind – from the green hills of Kerry and the Giant’s Causeway to Wicklow’s waterfalls and the Cliffs of Moher. Plenty of places for Dracula to cause mayhem – our little Van Helsings will need to have their senses sharp to seek him out!

Loved the museum experience. A self-guided tour that explained the reasons the Irish emigrated, where they emigrated to, and what contributions they made. I was able to access the audio for the self guided tour overview through my phone and each area went into more depth. It looked like children were having fun, the museum areas were creative and engaging. Nice gift shop.

EPIC Museum in Dublin Amazing experience! Really well set out with lots of interactive displays, little film clips and lots of information! It really blew me away how much the Irish people endured and how much of an impact they have had throughout the world! Definitely a must see! Also loved the little Passpot to stamp after each section! 👍❤️

The soul of Canada is part Irish Came close to tears several times. As a canadian, the connections to my own country and the role the irish played made me very emotional. To those who run epic, have you ever seen how Canadians display the irish arrival? Check it out: https://youtu.be/H48gaLbJfxc?is=045ITXX990fIktfM

Loved it, went in and was very quickly full of sadness from the heart rending stories of our Irish ancestors treatment. As the journey continued this changed to pride and awe at what we have and continue to achieve.

Most enjoyable as always as I take my relations who are immigrants to visit the museum. The new addition of the film of those who emigrated in the 50s and 60s is poignant A suggestion- please advise those attending that the film is almost an hour long. Also given the length of the movie seating facing the screen would make the experience more enjoyable as the existing seating is at a sideways angle

Epic experience at EPIC museum! Great museum (and I generally don't like museums!). Very interactive, large displays with audio and video, as well as artifacts. It wasn't crowded and you can move through at your own pass. They give you a "passport" to stamp at each of the main locations, which was a fun bonus for our kids. We learned a lot about the many paths Irish took to emigrate and what obstacles were faced along the way. My husband's family all came from Ireland and he was particularly fascinated (we are from the U.S.)

Atmosphere 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ • darkness & lights • tunnels • background music Information & Presentation 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ • interactive learning (e.g. dance, quizzes, games, giant book, sports tables) • independant learning • right amount of information • good choice of details • multiple and different topics Staff 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ • friendly • motivated • helpful • enthusiastic Overall 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ We are a school group from Germany between the ages 17 to 20. We enjoyed walking through the museum without a guide, because it gave us the opportunity to focus on the topics that interested us personally the most. We voluntarily spent more than an hour in the museum and were fascinated by the multiple (technical) ways, the information was presented.

A worthwhile visit covering the worldwide impact of the Irish We enjoyed our 2 hour visit, particularly the first few sections covering Irish history and its impact on emigration. The gift show was first rate as well. One caution: Google Maps had us turn in where there was no parking. Best nearby car park was about a block away at Q Park.

April 2026 visit; 2 adults no kids. We spent about 4 and a half hours in the museum. There is a lot to see and do. You can just do the cursory visit maybe in 90 minutes, but there are some excellent presentations and videos which add a lot of value. The history of Ireland is fairly grim in places, with the mass emigrations throughout the year, but stick with it because the more recent positives come out towards the end. I did not feel like time was dragging at all. The passport stamping is fun. Even as a 60 year old I found myself queuing up to get my visitors passport stamped. A good visit.

Definitely worth a visit I absolutely loved my visit here, so much so that I returned a few days later to see it again (ticket allows for a 2nd visit within a few days). The centre is fantastic. It's interactive displays are amazing!! I spent 2 hours in the exhibition itself. It was so educational and really good value for money. I paid €23 for my entry. Had I known at the time that I could buy a dual entry ticket for the Jeanie Johnson ship too I'd have bought that but I didn't realise that until after my second visit. You can also buy a "Dublin pass" ticket online if you plan on visiting numerous attractions. Works out cheaper in the long run. Definitely worth a visit to this centre.

EPIC Indeed A great and immersive experience through the different stages, aspects and real stories of those who emigrated from Ireland. The passport and stamping made the museum more engaging and a nice souvenir of the visit. You can spend a good hour and 30 minutes going round all the exhibits, the museum is a bit out of the way from the centre but worth the journey.

Very engaging and modern museum with a lot to see and do. The exhibition is interesting, with many interactive elements that make complex topics easier to understand. There is a large amount of information presented in a clear way, so you can really dive deep if you want. The actual number of original artefacts is not very big, but the creative presentation and interactive exhibits more than make up for it.

EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum If you’ve never wandered through EPIC, it’s surprisingly absorbing. The place pulls you into the stories of real people who left Ireland and shaped the world in all sorts of unexpected ways. It’s interactive, easy to follow, and you walk out feeling like you’ve learned something meaningful without it ever feeling heavy.
