Dublin Chinese New Year at EPIC and CHQ

24 & 25 February

The Dublin Chinese New Year Festival (DCNYF) celebrates the Year of the Dog, with events and celebrations taking place from 16 February – 4 March. EPIC and CHQ will be hosting our events on 24 – 25 February, with the popular Spring Festival Fair taking place.

DCNYF Guided tours of EPIC in Mandarin


This year EPIC will be offering guided tours of our exhibition in Mandarin for the first time. Experience Irish history, culture and people with special Mandarin guided tours of EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum. Discover the influence the Irish have had on the world and explore our connections to communities both near and far at our award-winning digital museum.

Guided tours in Mandarin will take place on 24 – 25 February. There will be four tours on each day at 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. Tickets are priced €14, and places are limited to 20 people per tour. Tickets can be booked in advance by clicking here.

Family Arts & Crafts – Chinese Lantern Making

To celebrate the Spring Fair Festival taking place on the 24 – 25 February we’ll be running a special arts and crafts workshops for children and families to make their own Chinese lantern. The workshops will be available from 12pm – 4pm on each day, and are included with entry to EPIC.

DCNYF Spring Fair Festival at The chq Building


The hugely popular Spring Festival Fair returns to The chq Building with a jam-packed two-day programme of free family-friendly entertainment.

Inspired by traditional Chinese temple fairs, “Miaohui”, this year’s spectacular event will welcome the Year of the Dog with a host of canine-themed entertainment, arts, crafts and interactive workshops, suitable for all ages.

Activities include Chinese calligraphy, Chinese knots, Chinese paper cutting, traditional Chinese medicine/acupuncture, Chinese tea ceremonies, red-envelope workshops, ping pong, face-painting, dog figure-making workshops and fairground rides.

Performances include Chinese fashion show, Lion and Unicorn dancers, Chinese traditional dance, Qi Gong and Tai Chi demos, traditional Chinese sugar-painting and more. Stalls will offer traditional Chinese food (hot and cold), plus drinks, books, and special crafts and goods from Yunan. DCNYF is excited to welcome some very special international guests to this year, so mark the dates in your diary!
