Do you have what it takes to sail the seven seas, and explore the chilly, unknown lands of the Antarctic? Find out in this 2-day camp for budding Antarctic Explorers!
Suitable for ages 7– 12 years old, in this interactive camp you’ll learn what it takes to survive at sea, and work together to complete challenges, games, arts, crafts, and writing to bring history to life!
Day 1: Welcome budding Antarctic Explorers! On Day 1, we will discover all about Ireland’s sea-faring history, and how Ernest Shackleton and Tom Crean defied all odds and explored the most remote places in the world, all by boat. You will see if you have the ‘Endurance’ to explore the Antarctic sea like Shackleton and Crean! As well as designing and creating your own vehicle for the journey, you will get the chance to create your very own Explorer’s notebook, filling it with discoveries and findings from your adventure, all while completing challenges and games to ensure your safe crossing through the Antarctic!
Day 2: On Day 2, we will continue our journey through the Antarctic, working together to solve riddles and challenges to continue onwards on our journey. Together, we will learn about Antarctic animals, like the Emperor and Macaroni Penguin, and will even create our own penguin colony, just like those found in Antarctica! Brrrrr. To complete our journey, you will get the chance to create and illustrate your very own storybook, depicting your daring adventure! We can’t wait to see you on board!
