Do you have a mini-explorer stuck at home? Ignite their imaginations in this fun, interactive, digital workshop all about the feats of pioneering Irish female adventuresses!
You may have heard of Ernest Shackleton the famous Antarctic explorer, but what about Elizabeth Le Blond, the Victorian woman who pioneered mountaineering, photography and filmmaking? Or Nellie Bly, the suffragist and revolutionary investigative journalist who broke world records travelling the world in just 72 days?
Discover these stories and more in this workshop suitable for children 6 – 12 years old. Using a mix of storytelling, quizzes, and simple art and sensory tasks, children will be introduced to the history of exploration through the stories of the women who experienced it, before completing a few fun home exploration activities of their very own. All they need is their imagination and some writing materials (pens/crayons and paper) to take part.
Important: All children must be under a parent/ guardian’s supervision for the duration of the workshop. This session will be delivered remotely via Zoom. Please do not journey to EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum for this session.
