How to keep exploring EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum and stay connected at home

Dear friends of EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum,

A museum without visitors is very strange indeed. Since opening our doors in 2016, we have connected with visitors from every corner of the globe, sharing the journey of Ireland’s emigrants and their stories of hope, adventure and adversity. Here at EPIC we proudly stand by our motto that ‘Every Person is Connected’ and we look forward to the day when we can welcome you once again.

During the COVID-19 emergency, the Museum will remain closed until it is declared safe to open again.  We are encouraged that people in Ireland are observing the government’s instructions so well: to stay at home, to practice social distancing and to keep washing hands.

With that in mind, we’d like to share the many ways in which you can explore our exhibition whilst the Museum is closed. So here are 5 ways for you to stay curious, connected, to keep learning and experience over 2000 years of Irish history – all whilst staying safe at home.

  1. Take a VR tour

Can’t come to EPIC then EPIC will come to you! We’ve gathered together some of our favourite stories from our exhibition, and included them in a Virtual Reality Tour of our museum. Simply navigate through the museum by clicking at various points around the space and touch/click on the pins to open them and reveal the fascinating story inside.

  1. Add your family name to our Power of a Name exhibition

Did someone in your family leave Ireland? Now you can share their story from home. Simply enter their name, where they emigrated from and the year they left on this form and be a part of The Power of a Name exhibition. It will then be displayed on our emigrant wall here at EPIC for the world to see!
