To mark World Autism Awareness Day this year, and as part of EPIC’s commitment to deliver the perfect visitor experience for all guests, we launched our new autism-friendly experience within our museum.
To help make our guests’ visit to EPIC as enjoyable as possible, we have developed a visual guide to help our guests familiarize themselves with our venue, the museum exhibition and our building. Our Visitor Experience team have received training from Irish Autism Action.
As we are a digital museum, there are a lot of audio-visual displays that may cause sensory issues with some visitors. We will be making some changes to the exhibition in terms of lighting and sound to make the exhibition more autism-friendly. If you wish, you can bring your own noise-cancelling headphones to use with our audio guides. We also happily welcome assistance dogs at EPIC and in the CHQ Building. We will also be running this exhibit on the first Sunday of every month over the summer, and we will be offering Irish Autism Action cardholders a 20% discount on these selected dates.
Future dates for autism-friendly museum experience this summer:
- 7th May 2017
- 4th June 2017
